DAMA

3 November 16 - 6 November 16

DAMA is a new independent project created by Giorgio Galotti in collaboration with Domenico de Chirico. This innovative interpretation of an Art Fair is taking place at Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana (an aristocratic palace built by Gian Giacomo Plantery between 1715 and 1722).

This first edition of DAMA is inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel ‘Invisible Cities’ published in 1972. It has the participation of ten international galleries invited by Domenico de Chirico, each of them featuring one to two artists in each room of the venue.

DAMA presents us with an alternative to the traditional art fair display, opting out of the sterile environment of the white cube. Here, the peculiar characteristics of a city palace embrace the artworks in an intimate way, simulating a collector’s private apartment.

As stated by Domenico de Chirico, the idea behind this new independent project is to “give space to young artists and fresh and powerful galleries from all over the world, asking them to conceive each exhibited project thinking of the particular exhibition space – an antique palace in the center of the city.”
