COMA is pleased to present ‘Thank you. That was most illuminating’, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles based Marc Horowitz. This will be Horowitz’s first exhibition with COMA, and also his first exhibition in Australia.
This exhibition will include painting, work on paper, and video work. Often humorous in their content and even their titles, the artworks are references to the relationship between art history, the entertainment industry, internet culture and commercial advertising.
Horowitz is known well for his painting, sculpture, performance, video and social practice. Over the years, alongside exhibiting regularly, he has been involved in a variety of projects. These include driving across American in the shape of his signature and interacting with the environment differently at each stop, attempting to bail out the big US banks in 2008 by creating action paintings and then donating these to banks to sell at auction, broadcast his life 24/7, crowdsourcing his daily decisions on this “The Advice of Strangers” website and receiving one of AOL’s 25 for 25 Grants for his exemplary work.
