Entitled 1440 minutos (1440 minutes), Nuno Nunes-Ferreira’s first solo show at Galeria Baginski, presents a set of works that approach time as a lost space. By making an attempt to recover a time that is individual as it is collective and by making an explicit criticism to media, the show reflects between the action of register time and the actions registered on time.
With a multifaceted artistic practice, the work of Nunes-Ferreira frequently deals with the subject of archive; one that is of collective nature proper from is owner. This archive is used in way to catalogue facts and actions n a way that many times they construct a narrative even though not having necessarily historical or documental relations. By making use of collage, in overlapping and joining material, Nuno Nunes-Ferreira creates several atlas in which the relation of information, physiognomy or merely chromatics make a single image. Therefore, to deconstruct the apparent randomness putting the actions according to a speech, it becomes essential a detailed analyses of the works presented. At the same time, by making use of repetition of similar images and actions, he deposes a moment of his singular character, making it abstract in its purpose.
At the show, Nunes-Ferreira emphasizes the ambiguity between the unique and the generic, where the density of the information and the influence of the media on social and political happenings play a significant role. Through a pursuit of time as action and documentation, Nunes-Ferreira quips with the means to pass, sell or mark the time, relativising then the weight of the 1440 minutes that compose a day.
